Intelliden

Proposition transformation, sales growth and funding

In 2003 Intelliden was a US based software vendor offering an IP network configuration management tool. EMEA expansion, sales growth and further funding was planned with a view to a NASDAQ float.

With a cost saving proposition and a technical sale to operations, there existed little business value within the Intelliden proposition aligned to the main market driver common to many of the competing Telco’s in Europe; that of providing new high margin IP services. Significant high value sales were also required to achieve further rounds of funding.

Transformation Strategy:

The business priority of Telco's and Managed Service Providers to deliver complex new IP services to business and consumer markets required a fundamentally new provisioning regime. Prevailing manual IP network change management methods were at the root of high service error rates and inaccurate inventories.

Re-positioning Intelliden Series R2 from a manual configuration management tool to a key component in the OSS meant evolving the base product to enable reconciliation with inventory management systems and logical representation of services to reflect the accurate configuration state of the network, and connectivity with provisioning systems to allow real-time service changes. The new R3 product enabled highly complex new service creation, real-time service changes, zero error rate activation and configuration compliance.

This capability in turn enabled providers to offer much faster service roll-outs, self-service and flexible pricing models.

Intelliden’s R-Series quickly became strategic OSS components for organisations such as BT Global Services, KPN, Telus and Telecom Italia, generating revenues in excess of USD$40m.

These European wins were instrumental to 3rd, 4th and mezzanine funding from 3i and Matrix Partners.

Intelliden was acquired by IBM on 16th February 2010 for an undisclosed amount.
