Very fast evolution of product offering & industry specific solution set for continued investment

In 2001, Aruna Solutions had developed a unique and revolutionary software driven database acceleration platform, in effect a low cost data warehouse that could execute complex SQL queries against Terabytes of data at sub-second speeds, much faster than many of the established super computer based data warehousing vendors.

They needed propositions, customers and especially funding, the market for which was very unsettled following the events of 911 and the Internet bubble bursting.

Transformation Strategy

Business Intelligence was an obvious route for such a capability, but in an already crowded space, so finding industry solutions became the shortest path to success, and therefore further investment. Driven by the need to identify new market sectors and create associated propositions to win flagship customers led us to solving data unification & risk management problems in the financial services sector and Revenue Assurance for Telecoms.

Further developing the product to enable natural language written queries translated into SQL improved user automation to the extent that we were enabling users to query the data warehouse at their own "speed of thought", literally asking a complex question, returning the answer in milliseconds, and then further refining questions to get valuable answers to their business problems.

Of greatest significance was the joint Data Mart offering created with the IBM Global Service' Data Warehousing SWAT team.

Significant reference sales in the £m's to several large customers enabled further rounds of mainly angel investment.
